Privacy Policy

Your streak. Your business.

Hands Off is built to collect as little about you as possible.

The short version. Hands Off has no accounts and no login. The personal things you track in the App — your streak, your daily Win/Loss record, your points, your notes, and your recap entries — are stored on your device and synced privately through your own iCloud account, so they stay available across your Apple devices. They are never sent to a server we operate, and we cannot read them. We use a single analytics service to understand how the App is used in aggregate, and that is the only information shared with us.

Information stored on your device and in your iCloud

Everything you create or track inside Hands Off is stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account:

  • Your goal definition, streak, and Win/Loss record
  • Points and season history
  • Notebook entries, nightly recap notes, and any text you write
  • Your settings and preferences

This information is held on your device and in your personal iCloud account, under your Apple ID. It is not transmitted to us and is not stored on any server we operate, and we cannot access or read it. Because it is part of your own iCloud, it syncs automatically across the Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID, so your progress stays consistent if you use the App on more than one device.

If you delete the App from a device, the copy held in your iCloud is, by default, kept — this is what allows your progress to be restored if you reinstall the App or set up a new device. To remove that data entirely, you can use the reset option within the App to erase your data, and you can also manage or delete Hands Off data stored in iCloud through your device's iCloud settings. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Information we collect

To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we use Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service. Mixpanel collects limited, usage-related information such as:

  • App events and interactions (for example, which screens are opened or which features are used), in aggregate rather than tied to your identity
  • General device and technical information, such as device model, operating system version, and app version
  • A randomly generated, anonymous identifier used to distinguish one device's usage from another

This analytics data is used to measure general patterns of use. It is not used to identify you personally, and we do not combine it with your name or contact information (we don't collect those).

What we do not collect

  • We do not require or create an account, username, or password.
  • We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number through the App.
  • We do not collect the contents of your notes, recaps, or any text you enter.
  • We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use it for advertising.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Hands Off uses your device's local notification system to deliver them. These notifications are scheduled on your device. You can turn them off at any time in your device's settings.

Third-party services

The App relies on the following third parties, each of which has its own privacy practices:

  • Mixpanel — analytics, as described above. See Mixpanel's privacy policy.
  • Apple iCloud — the App uses Apple's iCloud to store and sync your in-App data within your own Apple account. We do not control or have access to this data. Apple's use of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
  • Apple App Store — the App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and Apple may collect information in accordance with its own privacy policy.

How we use information

We use the limited analytics information described above only to operate, maintain, understand, and improve the App. We do not use it to make decisions about individual users, and we do not share it for marketing.

Data retention

The information you create in the App remains in your device and your iCloud account until you remove it — for example by using the App's reset option, or by deleting the App and removing its data from your iCloud settings. Aggregate analytics information is retained by our analytics provider according to its standard retention practices.

Your choices and rights

Because we do not collect personal identifiers, we generally cannot link analytics data back to you as an individual. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Since the personal content you create is held in your own device and iCloud account, you can exercise the most direct form of these rights at any time: edit or delete your entries, use the App's reset option to erase your data, or remove the App's data from your iCloud. If you have questions about your rights, you can contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

Hands Off is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Your personal content is held on your device and within your own iCloud account, so its security is tied to your device's protections (such as your passcode or biometric lock) and to Apple's protection of your iCloud account. For the limited analytics data that is transmitted, we rely on reputable providers and industry-standard protections. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
